Granite Chips

Granite chips, also called turkey grit or chicken grit, is small particles of crushed granite. A longtime grower in our area included it in his orchid mixes and the results spoke for themselves. Perhaps it is because this rock provides silica and micronutrients over time that is a 'secret ingredient' in some orchid mixes. It is also effective as a topdressing.
